William Goode 
William was born in 1765 in Powhatan Co., Virginia.1 William's father was Bennet Goode and his mother was Martha Jefferson. His paternal grandparents were John Goode and Mary Harris; his maternal grandparents were Thomas II Jefferson and Mary Field. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named John, Bennet, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Sally, Martha, Lucy, Dau of Bennet and Dau of Bennet. He died at the age of 72 in 1837 in Clarke Co., AL.1 General Notes

Removed to Georgia about 1785-1790 and subsequently to Clarke Co.,
Alabama. Was one of a committee appointed by the Alabama legislature in
1818 to choose a site for the Court house of Clarke Co., AL (Brewer's
Alabama). Left his children a large property and many slaves upon his

William Goode was a soldier of the Revolution, and at the age of 17 took
part in the siege of Yorktown. p. 473 Addenda et Corrigenda, Va Cousins

Moved to Georgia about 1785 - 90, then to Clarke Co., AL. He was a
soldier in the Revolution, entered the army at an early age, and was with
Washington at Yorktown when Cornwallis surrendered. Buried 3 miles south
of Whatley, AL. When he died he left a large property and many slaves to
his children.
William Goode, Sr. was one of a committee appointed by the Alabama
