Joseph Bert was born in 1902 in Lexington, Lee Co., Texas. Joseph Bert's father was Mayor John F. Goode and his mother was Clara A. Massey. His paternal grandparents were Robert Alexander Goode and Sarah H. Barnhill. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Archie P., John F., Jr., Willie and Anna Belle. He was the oldest of the five children. He died in 1902 in Lexington, Lee Co., Texas.-
