His paternal grandparents were Robert Alexander Goode and Sarah H. Barnhill. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph Bert, John F., Jr., Willie and Anna Belle. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died in Kingsville, Kleberg Co., Texas.-
