Thomas was born on November 28th, 1652. Thomas' father was Robert Field and his mother was Mary Stanley. His paternal grandparents were John, Jr. Field and Elen Hutchinsson; his maternal grandparents were Captain Christopher Stanley and UNKNOWN Susanna. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert, William, Robert, Daniel, Thomas, John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sarah and Sarah.-
