Nancy Venable's father was James Beverly Daniel and her mother was Jane Eliza Read. Her paternal grandparents were James Daniel and Ann Venable; her maternal grandparents were Charles Lewis Read and Jane Boyd. She had two brothers and four sisters, named James Nathaniel, Charles Read, Lucy Jane, Martha Elizabeth, Mary Graham and Mildred Read.-
