James H. Reynolds, son of John and Anne Reynolds married Mary A. Pollock in Washington county on 10 September 1854. The 1880 Census indicates that James was born in Ireland 60 years ago. Mary Ann. was born in Indiana, aged 49. They had one more son besides the ones buried in St. Patrick’s. He was James Hamilton Reynolds and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, Washington County, Indiana. The Steven’s History says that James' sister, Lucy wife of James Cavanaugh, was a native of Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland. The Reynolds lived on a large farm located in Jefferson township close to the junction of Walnut Ridge Road and Rush Creek Road. They had a large orchard. The late Jerry Kiefer said the Reynolds were Black Irish (descendants of the Spanish Armada sailors shipwrecked on the Irish shore) and they were cousins of the Gills. I can’t document this.
According to the 1850 Census, James is living in the next household to Guy and Mary Pollock who have a daughter - Mary A. This is probably James’ future wife.
