Edith was born in 1080.1 Edith's father was William de Warenne I Earl of Surrey and her mother was Gundrada de St. Omer. Her paternal grandparents were Rudolph de Warenne and Emma (de Warenne); her maternal grandparents were William I the Conqueror King of England and Matilda (Maud) de Flanders. She had a brother named William de Warenne II. She was the older of the two children.-
