Josiah was born in 1629 in Nuneaton, Warwick, England. Josiah's father was Edward Wood and his mother was Ruth Lee. His paternal grandparents were Lewis Wood and Margaret Holmes. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Obadiah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Ruth and Tabitha. He was the oldest of the six children.-
