David Strong 
David was born on July 6th, 1744 in Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut. David's father was Josiah Strong and his mother was Hannah Smedley. His paternal grandparents were Samuel S Strong and Ruth Sheldon. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Solomon, William, Joseph, Elijah, Hannah, Abigail and Ruth. He had two half-brothers named Josiah and Ebenezer. He died at the age of 57 on August 19th, 1801 in Fort wilkerson,, Illinois.General Notes
He was a Sergearnt in Burrall's Continental Regiment, Jan.1776; taken prisoner at the Cedars, May 19, 1776, 1st Lt. 5th Connecticut, Jan 1, 1771; Captain-Lieut. Jul 20, 1780; transferred to 2d Connecticut, Jan 1, 1781.; Captain 2d May 1781; retired Jan. 1, 1783; Captain U.S. Infantry Reg. Jul 15, 1785. Captain lst Infantry U.S. Army, Sep 29, 1789; Major 2d Infantry, Nov 4, 1791; assigned to 2 Sub. Legion, Sep 4, 1792; Lieutenant-Captain Colonel, Feb 19, 1793; assigned to 2d Infantry, Nov 1, 1796. He was commander of the post, Wilkinsonville, from the time the first stake was driven until his death.
