Timothy was born in 1628 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.1   Timothy's father was Richard Mather and his mother was Katherine Hoult.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margarite Unknown; his maternal grandfather was Edmund Holt. He had five brothers named Samuel, Nathaniel, Joseph, Eleazer and Increase.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 55 in 1683 in MA.1
