  3. THOMAS, born in Cherry Burton and married (1) Elizabeth (widow) Clark, who was buried in Etton., July 29, 1574. He married (2) Mary, who was buried in Etton, Jan. 6, 1588; and (3) Jane, who after his death became the wife of (???) Coppendale.
  
  He removed to Etton, Harthill wapentake, East Riding, Yorkshire, about 1576, and here he died in 1606, having made his will Oct. 5, 1606, which was proved in the following January. The several legacies specified in this will are printed in full. It will be noticed that neither of the sons who were educated is named in the will.

  7. ROBERT, born in Cherry Burton, married, Jan. 27, 1607-8, Ann Pattison. He received from his father's will both lands and tenements in South Dalton and Walkington, the first in the wapentake of Harthill, and the second in that of Howdenshire, both in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
  
  8. CATHERINE, married June 12, 1607, William Akett, of Leckonfield, Harthill wapentake, East Riding of Yorkshire, who is named in the will of her brother Thomas, then rector of Dengie, Essex. In her father's will her children are named: Jane, Anne, Isabell, and Elizabeth Akeit.
  
  9. AWDREY, who is reputed in her father's will as the wife of a Wickham. Her children are named in the will as: William, Thomas, and Jayne, and the family name is spelled Wykam.
  
  10. ELIZABETH, married, Feb. 19, 1587-8, Thomas Rowood.
  
  11. ANNE, baptized at Etton, Feb. 13, 1568-9, and died young.

  15. ANNE, baptized at Etton, July 29, 1576.
  
  16. MARY, who is named in her brother Thomas' will, Oct. 20, 1628, as the wife of John Gallant.
  
  17. THOMAS, baptized in Etton, Oct. 14, 1582, and was admitted to Queen's College, Cambridge, under George Mountaine as his tutor, June 30, 1601, and took his Bachelor's degree in 1604. He married Elizabeth (???), and ?? his will, which bears date Oct. 20, 1628, and which was proved in Consistory Court, London, May 6, 1629, he names as legatees his wife Elizabeth, and makes the following bequests: to eldest daughter Anne, when she shall come of age; to second daughter Jane, his Wilkes estate, Tillingham, Essex Co.; to his third daughter Elizabeth, lands in Allborne. Essex Co.; to his youngest daughter Mary, the Yates gap land and Meale Field, Southminster, Essex; to his brothers John and William: to William Akett, of Leckenfield, his brother-in-law; to his sister Mary, wife of John Gallant, and to several servants
  
  18. JOHN, baptized in Etton, Dec. 20, 1584, and became the pioneer and founder of the LOTHROP-LATHROP family in America. His record and that of his descendants immediately follow this record of the English Lowthrops.
  
  19. WILLIAM, baptized May 24, 1587, and is named in his brother Thomas' will, Oct. 20, 1628.

  20. MARGARET, baptized in Etton, Feb. 13, 1590-1.
  
  21. ISABELL, baptized in Etton, Sept. 29, 1592.
  
  22. LUCY, baptized in Etton, Jan. 4, 1593-4, and married, June 16, 1613, Ralph Cawnsby.
  
  23. RICHARD, baptized in Etton, Oct. 12, 1595, and married Dorothy Lowdon. He settled in Cherry Burton, where his will was made Feb. 8, 1640-1, and where his wife died in 1645. He left two sons, Thomas of Cherry Burton, and Richard of North Cave, near Cherry Burton, who died unmarried in 1659; and a Mary, a posthumous daughter. In his will, dated Feb. 8, 1640-1, and proved June, 1641, he remembers the poor of Cherry Burton, of Bishops Burton, of Etton, and of Leconfield; the Church of Cherry Burton; his eldest son Thomas, when of age; his unborn child, if it reaches majority; his wife Dorothy; his mother, Jane Coppendale; his younger son Richard, his brother Joseph, and his son Thomas; his brother Bartholomew; his sister Mary Garwood and her daughter Elizabeth, and to John, son of William Lowthrop.
  
  The will of Dorothy Lowthrop, widow of this Richard, dated May 15, 1641, and proved May 9, 1645, names as legatees, son Thomas, son Richard, daughter Mary, mother Jane Brown, mother Jane Coppendale or dayk, brothers, sister Lowson, brother Lawrence Lowthrop and his children, and his brother Bartholomew Lowthrop.
  
  24. MARK, baptized in Etton, Sept. 27, 1597. Mr. Somerby in his work prepared for Mr. Motley, before mentioned, says of this Mark: "He was among the settlers of West Bridgewater in Massachusetts, where he died about the year 1686. His children were Elizabeth, Mark, Samuel, and Edward," etc.
  
  It would have greatly simplified my record of the American Lo-Lathrops if I had not soon found another record for this Mark. His will was brought to light in London just in season to save the perpetuation of the error in our American record.
  
  Before his death he had removed to North Cave, near Cherry Burton, in Harthill wapentake, Hunsley Beacon, Yorkshire, when he probably had never married. His will bears date, North Cave, January, 1659-60, and was admitted to probate in London April 17. 1660. He names as his only legatees, his brother Bartholomew, brother William, Margaret Bateman, sister Lucy, and sister Jane. He also made his brother Bartholomew his executor and residuary legatee.
  
  Of course the above will disproves of the supposition which for years misled my search, that this Mark Lothrop was the pioneer who settled in Bridgewater, Mass., and whose descendants I have not been able to connect with the family of the Rev. John.
  
  25. LAWRENCE, baptized in Etton, Aug. 29, 1599, and is mentioned in the will of his nephew Richard, 1659, as the father of three children. He was, in 1641, one of the witnesses to his brother Richard's will.
  
  26. JANE, baptized in Etton, March 14, 1600-1.
  
  27. JOSEPH, baptized in Etton, Dec. 31, 1602. He and his son Thomas are mentioned in the will of his nephew Richard.
  
  28. BARTHOLOMEW, baptized in Etton. March 1, 1604-5, and named in the wills of his brother Richard, 1641, and nephew Richard, 1659.
  
  Of the places named in these wills and pedigrees, all are very near to Lowthorpe, Bridlington, and Napperton being in the same wapentake; Cherry Burton, North Cave, So. Dalton, and Etton in Harthill wapentake, Walkinton in Howdenshire wapentake.
