John Oscar was born on May 6th, 1873 in Greeley, Greeley, NE.1 John Oscar's father was William Tolan Howsmon and his mother was Louisa Jane Wood. His maternal grandparents were Bradford Wood and Elizabeth White. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Bradford Wood, Theodore Frank, Mary E, Phebe L, Lionelle Belle, Margarette L and Hariette L. He was the second youngest of the eight children.-
