Reuben was born in 1772. Reuben's father was Thomas Holeman and his mother was Susannah York. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Holeman and Elizabeth Unknown. He had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Jacob, Isaac, Susannah, Elizabeth and Margaret. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Joseph, Daniel, Thomas, Isaac, Rachel, Rebecca and Grace.-
