Joseph was born in 1723 in Windham, Windham, CT.1 Joseph's father was Jabez Cary and his mother was Hannah Hendee. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Cary and Hannah Unknown. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Jabez, Nathaniel, Ebenezer, David, Benjamin, Hannah and Mary. He was the oldest of the eight children.-
