Robert de Neville II was born about 1240 in Raby, Durham, England.1 Robert de Neville II's father was Robert de Neville Baron Neville of Raby and his mother was Ida de Bertram. His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey de Neville Baron Neville of Raby and Joan de Monmouth; his maternal grandparents were Roger de Bertram and Agnes (de Bertram). He was an only child. He died due to Wounds received while being gelded by friends of a cuckolded husband. on June 6th, 1271 in England.1 General Notes

REF: William Dugdale, "The Baronage of England" ~ vol I, 1675 (reprint 1977, Georg Olrns Verlag, Hildesheim & New York), p 292: "It is said, That this Robert frequenting the company of a certain Lady in Cravem, in an adulterous manner, was surprised by some of her Husbands friends, and by them so gelded, that he died of the wound, 6 Junii, An; 1271. (5~ Hen. 3.) and was buried in the Chapter House at coverham (in Com ;near to the Tomb of Helewise de Glanvil (his Father then living.) [His wife] Mary [FITZRANDQLPH] lived a Widow,upon her own inheritance, no less than forty nine years and departed this life
in 132O. (14 Edw.2.) and Was buried in the Quire at Coverham.'~
