Irene Leaphart

Gilbert - Services for Irene Shealy Leaphart, 93, of 536 Red Haven Rd.,
will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, Old
Cherokee Rd. at Fox Glenn, with the Revs. Jeff Kersey, Harry Wright, and
Colin Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be
members of the Julia Rogers SS class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to the church's Pew Fund, P.O. Box 131, Lexington, SC 29071.
Visitation will be 6-8:30 tonight at Barr-Price Fuenral home, 609
Northwood Rd., Lexington.

Mrs. Leaphart, widow of J. Earley Leaphart, died Sunday, January 31,
2000. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late L.
Mitchell and Shalldonia Bundrick Shealy. She was a member of Mt. Horeb
United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Women's Society of
Christian Service, and was a housewife.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald O. Sr. and Shirley
Leaphart, Wyman A. Sr. and Edith Leaphart, Bivens G. Sr. and Jackie
Leaphart, all of Gilbert; daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor "Wiggie" and
Phillip Wessinger, N.W. Hancock, all of Lexington, Nancy and Melvin
Hayes, Myrna Leaphart, all of Gilbert; 18 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; brother, Ambrose Shealy; sisters, Eva Gates, Evelyn
Harmon, all of Lexington; brother-in-law, Belton Clamp of Leesville;
special niece and caregiven, Velma W. Lorick. She was predeceased by her
daughter, Aileen Hancock.
