BEATRICE DE STAFFORD, was married for the first time to MAURIC E FITZ MAURICE, Earl of Desmond. He died in 1358. She was marrie d for the second time, with royal license dated 1 Jan. 1358/9, t o THOMAS DE ROS, Knt., 4th Lord Ros of Helmsley, third son of Wi lliam de Ros, Baron of Helmsley, co. York (of Magna Charta Suret y descent), by Margery (of Magna Charta Surety descent and desce ndant of Charlemagne, daughter of Bartholomew de Badlesmere, 1s t Lord Badlesmere. He was born at Stoke Albany, co. Northampton , on 13 Jan. 1336/7, and was brother and heir of William de Ros . They had four sons and two daughters. He took part in the King 's expedition in Normandy in 1355, and in the campaigns of 135 6 and 1359-60. He was summoned to Parliament from 24 Aug. 1362 . In 1368 he was ordered to reside on his lands in Ireland wit h his armed forces, to prevent the loss and destruction of the c ountry. "Thomas de Roos, lord of Hamelak" died testate at Uffing ton, co. Lincoln (while preparing to go on pilgrimage to Jerusal em), on 8 June 1384, and was buried at Riveaulx. His widow was m arried for the third time, with pardon for marrying without lice nce dated 20 Aug. 1385, to RICHARD BURLEY, Knt., K.G. (died 23 M ay 1387 s.p.). She died testate on 14 Apr. 1415 (will dated 26 J une 1414 requesting burial in Warter Priory).
