The Dinwiddie name comes from Lt. Governor Robert Dinwiddie of VA who recommended annexation of the Ohio Valley and erection of Forts to secure the frontier against the French.
This Robert Dinwiddie Grigg II married Frances Prudence Archer. They went to Barnesville, Lamar County, GA, and became the parents of eight children. Hewent to VMI before serving in the Civil War.
