RESEARCH NOTES:
Traditional sources call the Cid's wife, Jimena Diaz, the daughter of
Jimena Alfonso, daughter of Alfonso V. This is clearly inorrect since
Jimena's brothers specifically call their mother Christina. In near
contemporary documents, Jimena Diaz is called "nepis" of Sancho II (and
