Alianore de Castille = Leonor de Castilla or Eleanor of Castile

Buried in (Edward) the Confessor's Chapel, Westminster Abbey. Sh e died in Harby, Notts. Her body was embalmed and Edward brough t it in state to Westminster, erecting memorial crosses at the p laces where the procession rested from Lincoln to Charing Cross . Three monuments were raised over Eleanor's remains: one contai ning her entrails was at Lincoln Cathedral but was destroyed i n the Civil Wars; another over her heart was put up at the Black friars (or Friars Preachers), London, but was lost when that hou se was dissolved. The third, containing her embalmed body, remai ns at Westminster Abbey. Master William Torel, goldsmith of Lond on, cast the effigy of Eleanor in 1291. Round the edge of the to mb-top on which lies the effigy there is a Norman-French inscrip tion: "ICI GIST ALIANOR IADIS REYNE DE ENGLETERRE FEMME AL REY E DEWARD FIZ LEREY HENRY EFYLLE AL REY DE ESPAYGNE ECONTASSEE DE P UNTIV DEL ALME DELI DEV PVR SA PITE EYT MERCI AMEN.": Here lie s Eleanor, sometime Queen of England, wife to King Edward, son o f King Henry , and daughter of the King of Spain and Countess o f Ponthieu, on whose soul God in His pity have mercy. Amen."
