Henry Werts
Silverstreet - Services for Henry Walter Werts, 84, will be held at 2
p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church with burial to follow
in Silverstreet Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive
friends 7-8 tonight at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family suggests
that those desiring may make memorials to Trinity United Methodist
Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Mr. Werts, widower of Ella Mae Johnson Werts, died April 18, 2000. Born
in Newberry, he was a son of the late Edwin Lewis and Annie Elizabeth
Lake Werts. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a
retired employee of Chapion Paper Co., and a former employee of Lake
Machine Shop. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the
Silverstreet Ruritan Club, and was a former volunteer fireman.
Surviving are his daughters, Peggy Jean (Robert E.) Barker of Lexington,
Gayle Wood of Spartanburg; sisters, Narvis Hunter, Mildred Boozer, both
of Silverstreet, Katherine Simpson of Greenville; brother, William Thomas
Werts of Newberry; three step-granddaughters, eight
step-great-grandchildren.
