William Longespee, Earl of Salisbury, named in the Magna Charta , 1215, b. bef. 1173, d. Salisbury Castle, 7 Mar. 1225/6, natura l son of King Henry II (161-11); m. 1198, Ela, Countess of Salis bury, b. Amesbury, co. Wilts, c. 1187-1191, d. 24 Aug 1261, dau . of William fitz Patrick, Earl of Salisbury. The mother of Will iam Longespee is unproven.
