Elon Epting

Chapin - Services for Elon V. Epting, 76, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday,
December 13, 1999 at Bethel Lutheran Church, White Rock, with the Rev. Al
Potter and Vicar Rusty Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the
church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jesse Epting, Roger Crouch,
Charlie Sansbury, Mike Moore, Ranny Keys, and Laddie Hiller. Honorary
pallbearers will be The Bethal Lutheran Men, Dewey Clark, and Heyward
Wessinger. Visitation will be from 5-7 tonight at Caughman-Harman
Funeral Homes, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran
Church Memorial Fund (Grounds).

Mr. Epting of Chapin, died Friday, December 10, 1999. He was a son of
hte late John A. and Pearl Huffstetler Epting. He was born September 14,
1923 and was a decorated veteran of World War II. He retired from
Wallace Concrete Pipe Co. He was the beloved groundskeeper of Bethel
Lutheran Church. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, a member of
Bethel Lutheran Men, and member of Boyleston Masonic Lodge, Ballentine.

Surviving are his wife, Prema Bouknight Epting; daughters and
sons-in-law, Bonnie and Carl Dertick of Chapin, Donna and Roger Crouch of
Irmo; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Teresa Epting of Chapin; beloved
grandchildren, Carla E. Derrick, Nikki and Charlie Sansbury, Alison
Jackson, Jesse, Megan and Dylan Epting; sister, Betty E. Moore; brother,
Joe R. Epting. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Karl H. Epting.
