Edmund I was born in 0921.1 Edmund I's father was Edward the Elder and his mother was Eadgifu. His paternal grandparents were Alfred the Great and Alswitha; his maternal grandfather was Sigehelm of Kent. He had a sister named Edgina. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Edmund The Magnificent and Eadgyth. He died in Pucklechurch, England.1 General Notes

Edmund I, byname EDMUND THE DEED-DOER, Latin EDMUNDUS MAGNIFICU S (b. 921--d. May 26, 946, Pucklechurch, Eng.), king of the Engl ish (939-946), who recaptured areas of northern England that ha d been occupied by the Vikings.
Son of Edward the Elder, succeeded his half-brother, Æthelstan, with whom he had fought at Brunanburh. Combated the Norse Vikings in Northumbria and subdued them in Cumbria and Strathclyde. He entrusted these lands to an ally, Malcolm I of Scotland. Edmund met his death when he was killed at Pucklechurch, in Gloucestershire, by a robber.
