No one knows. The sources relating to her parentage are both co nflicting and mutually exclusive. The two versions that you sho w are two of the theories that have been proposed. What we KNO W is that her name was Etienette/Estefania/Stephanie (in French/ Spanish/English), that her marriage appears to have brought th e names Raimond and Clemence into the Counts of Burgundy, and th at her son Raimond/Ramon/Raymond was a "cousin" of Henry of Burg undy, brother of Eudes Borel, Duke of Burgundy. Eudes and Henr y were children of Henry of Burgundy by his wife, whose parentag e is likewise undocumented. However, the name byname Borel, an d the names Raymond and Clemence appear in the related familie s of the Counts of Barcelona and of Bigorre/Carcassona/Foix, s o this has led to the theory that the "cousinship" between Henr y and Raymond was through this mediterranean connection. Some t hen make Estefania directly a child of the Count of Barcelona . More recently, based on a mixture of one of the early account s, political analysis and the appearance of the names Clemence i n the north, Vajay hypothesized that a daughter of the Count o f Bigorre married a Count of Longwy-Metz, and that Estefania Ett ienette was their daughter. All of this is speculation, withou t direct support, and we are left not being sure.
