Robert Lee's father was George William Swittenberg and his mother was Alice Eugenia (Jane) Shealy. His maternal grandparents were Andrew Shealy and Mary Caroline Sease. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Junius Webster, William Joseph, Harry Orester, Horace O., Lola Agnes, Frela Belle, Georgia Mae, Mary Alice (Mamie) and Anna Caroline.-
