Claude Summer Jr.
Newberry -- Services for Claude P. Summer Jr., 77, of 2237 Harrington
St., will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at teh Newberry Associate Reformed
Presbyterian Church. Entombment will follow in Newberry Memorial
Gardens. The family is at his residence and will receive friends at
6-7:30 this evening at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family suggests
that those desiring may make memorials to Newberry A.R.P. Church Memorial
Fund, 1701 Main St., Newberry, SC 29108.
Mr. Summer died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at his residence. Born in
Newberry, he was a son of the late Claude P. Sr. and Estelle Moore
Summer. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of
Newberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he had served as
deacon and elder. Mr. Summer was co-owner of Burns and Summer Floor
Covering Co. for many years and retired from Fulmer Building Supplies.
Surviving are his wife of 52 1/2 years, Ruby Sterling Summer; daughter,
Martha Summer Bursinger of Newberry; granddaughter, Julianne Caldwell
Bursinger of Newberry. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elizabeth
Summer Bursinger; a brother, James Brian Summer.
