Elton's father was Ernest Ardell Shealy and his mother was Bertha Marilzia Sites. His paternal grandparents were Leonard L. Shealy and Martha Isabelle Comalander. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Ernest Ardell, Carl, Charles, Clarence Edward, Claude Heyward, Robert, Leonard, Helen, Myrtle, Helen and Susie.-
