Bessie was born about 1923 in Newberry, Newberry County, South Carolina.1 Bessie's father was Holmes Addy Shealy and her mother was Corrie Wessinger. Her paternal grandparents were George Holland Shealy and Mary Ella Haltiwanger. She had a brother and a sister, named George H. and Rachel. She died on December 10th, 1999. Bessie Epting
Chapin - Services for Bessie Shealy Epting, 76, will be held at 2 p.m.
Sunday, December 12, 1999 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, with burial in
the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at
Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to
St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Epting, widow of Bernard O. "Bunk" Epting, died Friday, December 10,
1999. Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of hte late Holmes A. and
Corrie Wessinger Shealy and was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
She was retired from the Lowman Home.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll W. and Beth Epting
of Chapin, Joe R. and Margaret Epting of Chapin, Tommy M. and Brenda
Epting of Cayce; sister, Rachel Abernathy of Lincolnton, N.C.; brother,
George H. Shealy of Chapin; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren
and a very special friend, John Autrey of Little Mountain. Mrs. Epting
was preceded in death by grandsons, Ronnie and Travis Epting.
