Mary Ann was born in 1839 in South Carolina.1 Mary Ann's father was Adam Monts and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Sease. Her maternal grandparents were John Mark Suss\Seas\Sease and Nancy Shirer. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Mark, J. Issac, Louis Phillip, John R., William Anderson, Emily A., Frances A., Katharine C., Magdalin and Elizabeth.-
