James Arthur was born in 1789. James Arthur's father was James Hart and his mother was Sarah Edwards. His paternal grandparents were Arthur Hart and Elizabeth Irby; his maternal grandparents were Joshua Edwards and Anne James Kolb. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas Edwards, Mary and Sarah. He was the oldest of the four children.-
