Richard "Strongbow" De CLARE, Earl Of Pembroke 
Richard "Strongbow" was born about 1130.1 Richard "Strongbow"'s father was Gilbert De CLARE, Earl Of Pembroke and his mother was Elizabeth De BEAUMONT. His paternal grandparents were FITZ RICHARD, Lord Of Clare And Tonbridg and Adeliza De CLERMONT; his maternal grandparents were Sir Robert De BEAUMONT, Earl Of Leicester and Isabel De VERMANDOIS, Countess Of Leicester. He was an only child. He died on April 20th, 1176 in Dublin.1 General Notes

2nd Earl of Pembroke, Earl of Striguil, Justiciar of Ireland [Ref: Weis AR

Dermot Macmurchada, King of Leinster, sought his aid against Roderick, King of
Connaught, and in 1270 gave him his daughter Eva in marriage. Strongbow drove
Roderick out of Waterford and Dublin, whereupon King Henry II through jealousy
deprived him of all his titles and he kept only Kildare, but was later
reinstated in Leinster. He was later made Justice of Ireland, which he had
helped to conquer. [Ref: Wurts p423]
