Bunyan's father was Ernest Cumalander and his mother was Lula Shealy. His maternal grandparents were Jacob Abnet Shealy and Martha Ella Shealy. He had five brothers and a sister, named Alvin, Claude, Fred, Jacob, William and Martha Ellen.-
