James' father was William Walker and his mother was Drusilla Woodson. His maternal grandparents were John Woodson and Elizabeth Anderson. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Warren, Washington, Charles, Jane, Judith, Lucy, Martha, Drucilla Woodson and Frances.-
