Edith was born about 1736 in Amelia Co., VA. Edith's father was Jacob Seay and her mother was Rachel Wingo. Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Seay and Mary Wilson. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James M., John, Hezekiah, Jacob, Abraham, Moses, Phoebe Philby, Hannah, Agnes, Frances and Sarah.
