Mary E. was born about 1857. Mary E.'s father was Joseph Bybee Payne and her mother was Mary Ann Cameron. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Joseph Payne and Theodosia Bybee. She had a brother and two sisters, named James H., William E. and Martha A.. She was the second youngest of the four children.-
