His paternal grandparents were Josiah Morton and Elizabeth Davis; his maternal grandparents were Richard Woodson and Elizabeth Smith. He had a brother and a sister, named William and Judith. He had a half-sister named Mary. He died at the age of 47 on November 28th, 1785 in Prince Edward Co., VA.-
