Henry was born about 1718 in Surry Co., VA. Henry's father was Henry Mitchell and his mother was Tabitha Branch. His paternal grandparents were Henry Mitchell and Mary Lockett?; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Branch and Elizabeth Archer. He had two brothers named Thomas and Nathaniel. He was the oldest of the three children. He died about 1773 in Sussex Co., VA.-
