John was born in 1763. John's father was Elisha Meredith and his mother was Elizabeth Pleasants Cocke. His maternal grandparents were James Cocke and Elizabeth Pleasants. He had five brothers and a sister, named Samuel M., Elisha, Pleasant, William M., George and ?. He died at the age of 22 in 1785 in "Snow Hill", Hanover Co., VA.-
