Elisha was born in 1756 in St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co., VA. Elisha's father was Elisha Meredith and his mother was Elizabeth Pleasants Cocke. His maternal grandparents were James Cocke and Elizabeth Pleasants. He had five brothers and a sister, named Samuel M., John, Pleasant, William M., George and ?. He died at the age of 40 in 1796 in St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co., VA.-
