David was born on March 24th, 1769 in Louisa Co., VA.  David's father was George Hunter and his mother was Mildred Austin.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew Hunter and Jane ?. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Austin, Andrew, Samuel, Lucy and Ann.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
