Susannah was born about 1831 in Louisa Co., VA. Susannah's father was Thomas J. Harlow and her mother was Rosanna Butler. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Harlow and Susannah ?; her maternal grandparents were Augustine Butler and Nancy Crews. She had four brothers and four sisters, named George K., Thomas A., Henry Jackson, Alexander D., Frances E., Sarah E., Rosanna W. and Martha J.. She was the oldest of the nine children. She died in 1905.-
