Shelton was born about 1808 in Louisa Co., VA.1 Shelton's father was Charles Harlow and his mother was Mary Crews. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Harlow and Susannah ?; his maternal grandparents were William Crews and Mary ?. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William C., Thomas, Susan Haley and Matilda. He was the oldest of the five children. He died in 1888 in Louisa Co., VA.General Notes
