Matilda was born in 1811 in Louisa Co., VA. Matilda's father was Charles Harlow and her mother was Mary Crews. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Harlow and Susannah ?; her maternal grandparents were William Crews and Mary ?. She had three brothers and a sister, named Shelton, William C., Thomas and Susan Haley. She was the third oldest of the five children.-
