Nicholas was born on March 26th, 1752 in Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting, Hanover Co., VA. Nicholas' father was Joseph H. Crew and his mother was Agnes Stone. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Crew and Hannah Ellyson; his maternal grandfather was Michael Stone. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Armistead, Micajah, Joseph, Agatha, Susanna and Mary.General Notes
