Samuel Overton was born on September 29th, 1883 in Near Bell's Crossroads, Louisa Co., Virginia. Samuel Overton's father was Stephen William Butler and his mother was Mary Catherine Sargeant. His paternal grandparents were Hezikiah Butler and Susan Haley Harlow; his maternal grandparents were Andrew E. Sargeant and Martha Payne. He had a brother and seven sisters, named William Bain, Julia Payne, Bernice, Ada Lee, Ara, Nellie Marvin, Virginia and Mabel. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 88 on December 3rd, 1971 in Mineral, Louisa Co., Virginia. He was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa, VA.-
