John was born in 1741 in "Hobbs Hole", Tappahannock, Essex Co., VA. John's father was William Brockenbrough and his mother was Elizabeth Fauntleroy. His paternal grandparents were Austin Brockenbrough and Mary Metcalfe; his maternal grandparents were Moore Fauntleroy and Margaret Micou. He had four brothers named Austin, Moore Fauntleroy, Newman and Thomas. He died at the age of 60 on November 20th, 1801 in Richmond Co., VA. He was buried in "Doctor's Hall", Richmond Co., VA.-
