Letitia was born on October 3rd, 1750. Letitia's father was Joseph Blackwell and her mother was Lucy Steptoe. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Blackwell and Margery Downing; her maternal grandparents were John Steptoe and Elizabeth ?. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Joseph, George Steptoe, John, Elizabeth, Anna, Lucy and Judith. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
