John Black

John was born on August 22nd, 1835. John's father was Alexander Black and his mother was Mary Ann Clark Smith. His maternal grandparents were Meriwether Smith and Sarah Payne. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, Robert, Alexander, Meriwether Smith, Susan and Mary Louisa. He was the third oldest of the eight children.
