Rhys Ap was born in 1195 in Llandyfeisant, Carmarthenshire, , Wales.1 Rhys Ap's father was Rhys Ap Rhys and his mother was Matilda DeBraose. His paternal grandparents were *Rhys Ap Rhys and *Ellyw Verch Thomas; his maternal grandparents were Reginald DeBraose and *Grecia Briwere. He had a brother and two sisters, named Jevan, Lleucu Verch and *Gwenllian Verch. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother named Dafydd ap. He died at the age of 76 on August 17th, 1271 in Llandyfeisant, Carmarthenshire, , Wales.1 -
